Talking About Archangels
By WadeArchangels are one of nine choirs or branches of angels and are positioned on the second level. They are the “messengers of God” and assist in helping mankind in several ways. Each archangel represents a different aspect of God. For example, Raphael represents healing as his name Rolphe (Hebrew for medicine doctor) indicates.
Archangels have appeared in literature about as long as man has recorded his thought. You will find references to archangels in a wide array of religious texts such as The Bible, The Koran and some apocryphal and Telemudic biblical books. Though as many as seven archangels are mentioned in early writing, traditionally people think of just four: Michael, Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel. Muslins abscribe to a slightly different four: Gabriel, Michael, Azrael and Raphael.
Doreen Virtue identifies 15 archangels in her books, Archangels and Ascended Masters and the new Archangels 101. Sylvia Browne also discusses archangels and how they assist mankind in A Book of Angels. Besides healing and delivering messages, she states that archangels can and sometimes do take us on astral travel or out-of-body experiences. Many books on angels or angelology are available today if one would really like to delve into details.
